Hi
after recently purchasing a GFB DV + valve I have had it fitted by a German car specialist on my S3 sportback s-tronic
i have also been greeted with the gear select lights flashing on the dashboard!

i can select gears manually and automatically but can't see which gear I am in?

any ideas or problems like this associated with the DV+?

i have heard a 'reboot' will solve the issue?

thanks

Funny you should post about a DV as I have just ordered a rev D for my own car. Did the DV+ just mount onto your existing DV?

And that is a very strange problem you are having, Im not sure how a DV would effect your dash gear change display..

I think that the issue is not related to your DV+. Just a coincidence that it occurred after fitting.

Yes, it used most of the original DV and mounted straight on. I'm not sure why it's done what it has but I need to try and establish why!

I would recommend a full scan with vcds, to see if that bring up anything.

Pretty much just uses the existing DV casing Trev... All the internals are swapped out.. Think the casing is only for use of the existing solenoid

I have just got a rev D also about to be fitted tuesday. As Jacko says, the DV+ bolts onto the existing Rev D shell and internals are swapped.

Cheers for info Jacko.

Ah thats interesting, what version do you currently have, and are you swapping it out "just incase" or do you think its torn/split?

Sorry for thread hijack Henry!!

Currently just the stock diaphram version on mine. Putting the REV D on as the car is being remapped in a few days so just to cover the added power/pressure etc with something stronger. won't have as much hp as an S3 to warrant adding the GBF ontop of it tbh.

Very interesting to hear you say that. My car has the revo stage 1 and running the DV that came on it, which I have my doubts about. Looking forward to getting the Rev D installed to see if it makes any difference! Good move getting it done before the remap.

What revision has your car got Trev... Looks facelift, so should have came with a rev D or rev G already...

There isnt any performance difference really with the revised models... Only a stronger diaphram to prevent tearing at the higher boost levels.... The dv+ however is a slight performance changing valve... Stores slightly more boost in the intercooler to prevent the flat spot between changing gears.. Therefore meant to take away turbo lag...

To be honest Im not sure which version is currently on the car. I tried to look in the engine bay but wasnt seeing any part numbers on it. I think its prob a G on it if I had to guess. Even if I end up putting the same type back on it, at least it will be a new one. But hopefully its different. And hopefully when I take apart the one thats on it I see some damage!

Could I buy the DV+ down the line and attach it to the rev D that I just bought? Or would they both have to be installed at the same time?

Yeah mate the part numbers on the back of the DV when looking at it from the front... As far as i'm aware mate, the Rev D and Rev G are just as good as one another... The reason for the upgrade usually to the Rev D or G is from the guys fron the prefacelift models like mine, they come with a Rev C that is highly known for tearing under a stressed load, so a lot of guys did that until the new DV+ came out...

There are a lot of mixed reviews about the DV+ where guys have had boost issues with it.. Mainly from the guys I have spoken to, they have been running stage 2+ / stage 3 and the slightly higher boost pressure might cause too much back pressure in the cooler or something and might require a bigger intercooler.. I dont know!? I know a little but no expert

Yeah mate easily done... All your doing is transferring the internals, so you could have any revision DV for it go in.. Mine is in my Rev C casing as I said it only utilises the standard solenoid...

Personally I have driven my own Stage 1 S3 with the DV+ and a mates stage 1 without... At 1st when mine was fitted, I thought it may have been purely placebo, but after driving his, from driving my own so much, there is a noticeable difference... And in my eyes is beneficial... Especially if only running stage 1... But thats only my opinion...

if your car is s-tronic however, i've no idea how that effects it.. I've only driven it on manual cars

I was under the impression that the S3 came with Rev D as standard, I may be wrong however. My view is if the REV D is good enough on a remapped S3, My remapped 2.0T should fair just fine lol.

The age of the car will determine which DV was fitted from new. My 2007 S3 came with a C and our 2008 TT came with a G. The G has a diaphragm and the D with a piston. I read that some DVs leak from new so much that the equivalent hole in the intercooler would be 6mm in diameter. R-Tech, the reputable tuning company told me that they recommend the G. On the S3 it is at the front of the engine and so is easily changed. Some folks treat the G as a service item and it is the cheapest at about £43. Unless the diaphragm is split it cannot leak boost. I changed the G on the TT for a new G. It was 6 years old and had done 24000. There was no evidence of splitting but as it is a pita to take off on the TT I changed it for peace of mind.
As mentioned in an earlier thread, I am running a DV+ using a D solenoid. However any version of the solenoid will do as I understand they are all the same. It is only the diaphragm/piston that is different for the different revisions.
