Wiper clearance from bonnet

Steve, have you tried writing to Audi UK and asking for one of their technical guys to inspect the wiper set-up on your car.
I had to do this once, a long time ago, with my a rust problem on my first Golf and they instantly agreed to fix to the problem.
May be worth a try.
