Cheers lads :) I'm loving it, had the bits lying around for months

Thought I'd pop some pics up of my A3. First car and I'm very happy with it up to now. It is as I bought it up to now, but ready to start with some small mods to get the ball rolling and see where I end up.

The images weren't great so I cropped and colour graded them plenty in PS to disguise it.

I'm not surprised you're in love, Baza ..she's beautiful, it's all about the Speedlines, lol! xx

That grill is seriously sweet! Looks very very OEM, dude. Love it. xx

(Martay, this grille would look awesome on your S3, too!) xx

Very aware of that! Need to get the wheels on first, then start on the next mod. Still haven't put my Lamin-X on yet either (even though I bought them like 6 months ago)!

L80EWY, you have a linky for the grille? Is it straight swap for the 8P2 grille?

Thank Paula - am in love with it...........
Is that what the wheels are " speed lines " ........ ??

One happy dude........

You would have to trim it slightly to fit. A3 grilles are bigger than S3 ones.

Yep, they are indeed Speedlines, ..probably the most sought after and most loved OEM wheels there are!!! If my car had come with those fitted, I don't think I ever would have swapped, lol. xx

These are known as Speedlines, but they're the original BBS version. Speedline took over "OEM" production when BBS discontinued the wheel. Or maybe the other way around, I don't remember.

Omm, nom, NOM!!! Those are very sexy wheels, Martay. Gonna look seriously outta this world with your R8's behind them, lol!!! xx

CHs have a chunkier centre area, CKs are more spokey... if that helps? CHs also say BBS Motorsport around the middle too, don't think CKs have that. Have a look through the Rimz [sic] thread and you'll start to learn to spot the differences between the wheels. Also, check out CH-Rs (I think they're the replacement for CKs) which are basically a blend of the two designs with the bonus of a rim protector/lip.

18 vs 19 is subjective. A lot of people will say you need to get 19s (and I'm one of them), but looks at Paullie's thread and you'll see that's not always true. Also depends on if you plan to lower the car because 19s will cause more problems if the wheels is wide, or the ET is too low, where you'd have an extra 1/2 inch of play on an 18" wheel with the same specs.

Thanks for this mate. So whats the sizes (i.e. ET etc) to go for with 18s and 19s?

Silky, I've had both CK and now CH, both in different colours over silver and both in 19" as they look bigger and better. I've got loads of pics, so let me know if you want more! For now, a few for you to mull over...

You either love or hate Black rims, but one thing for sure is you do lose the detail of any design with darker, but especially Black rims. They work for me as I'm obviously going for the Blue and Black theme.

Thanks for these, your car looks awesome! Think I'm going towards CH's or CH-Rs. Not sure about black but really like the anthracite or smoked chrome looks. You don't have any pics of your with different colour CHs on do you?

Thanks!

ET is more relevant compared to width than diameter (as in the wider the wheel, the more ET comes into play). I guess you have to watch all three, as wider wheels can sit further out if the diameter is smaller.

You want 8, 8.5 or 9" wide. Standard S3 wheels are 7.5" wide, ET56 and my 8.5"wide ET48 speedlines fit fine, and someone on here has 9" wide wheels with ET42 that only need the rear arch screw removed since the car is lowered so there's at least an idea of ranges for fitting. Inside has to clear the strut of the suspension, outside has to tuck under the arch. Use this site to play around with what can fit: Wheel Offset Calculator
