Am selling my S3, as I want a V6 or V8 again. Car is currently stage 2+ and I had no luck trying to sell it as it is, even though it was priced the same as a standard S3 with same spec/age/mileage. So it is going in to AmD next week to be taken back from stage 2+ to stage 1, have a service (its due) and also get the MoT done (again due in the next few weeks anyway).
Am then planning on re-advertising the car, making sure to point out that its just serviced and has 12m MoT. Will probably have to buy 12m new tax for it also!
My question is whether or not it is worth extending the warranty? When I bought the car from Fontain it came with a 12m 3rd party warranty, which is due to expire in the next few weeks. They sent me a letter giving me the option to extend for 12m for £225. Do you think I would get my money back on the sale price, selling a car with a ~1yr warranty on it compared to one without?
If not then I am hoping it would at least make the car more attractive to buyers and provide comfort at buying a ~£16k car privately, as, other than not offering finance, it puts the car on a par with specialist garages (just serviced, inspected, MoT'd and with a warranty).
Worth the £225?
