My S3

Not as much as I thought it would be then!?

Reckon around 3k/4k for the lot ? Or is that chancing it? Haha

Got the cai already so that saves a bit!

Well under that for the high flow sports cat and HPFP.

Pretty sure the Miltek 200 cel sports cat and the loba HPFP are both about £600 each. Then anything you have left can be spent on sorting the handling out :)

Pretty much what I'd say too.

The Loba pump is nicely priced for a complete pump, and that leaves some for upgrades like kW v3 suspension maybe.

And the list will get bigger and bigger haha

Cheers Alex and Stetheo! Now to make some calls to AMD I guess!

Till I get bored and want more but I think at that stage costs are realistic! haha, cant wait though !

what figures do you think ill achieve on bhp and torque on stage 2 + ?

Im sure it will or AMD will make sure it does ;)

As a rough average,should be around 360-370bhp and 360lbs.

Thats an average of what most seem to get on that sort of tune, and it varies by a few percent, according to individual settings.

You'll find the occasional claim of nearly 390bhp,but frankly the poor old K04 will be screaming it's bearings off to get close to that figure, and what matters more is having a nice smooth torque curve, and plenty in the midrange, rather than a little bit more at the ragged edge.

Nice averages to be honest, ill be more than chuffed with that!.

I rather keep things within limits that pushing it to the max and regretting it afterwards!

Be interesting to see the torque when I've had the dsg software update done as didn't show true figures from stage 1.

Small update -

Got the GFB dv+ fitted on Saturday @ AMD and the car does feel slightly more responsive which is good.

Unfortunately I couldn't get the DSG software update as the cars software was recent and wouldn't work with AMD's so they have sent mine off to get a fix so I can get it done.... but will have some weeks to wait! ill probably get it all done when I go to stage 2 +

I think that's a great idea.

It will enable you to get so much more from the car, even before you get Stg2+.....hope you enjoy it.

It was hard to make the right decision because I wanted to go straight to more power!

How low do you think I should go with the Coilovers to make it look subtle but still make it looked low...er ?

I think we went about 20mm lower on mine...not much, but lowered a bit and still clears the ground at speed.

Cheers - was thinking either 10 or 20 so ill prob go with 20 - just speaking to mate at work about the coilovers - is it worth going for the kw3 if I drive the car everyday and down country roads? want to get kw coilovers but is there another option that might suit me better?

V1 are easy to set up and not horribly expensive.
V3 are much more adjustable and require time to setup to an individuals tastes but are definitely better and more expensive.
V2 are somewhere in the middle.

I would say the v3s are about as much as most would need for road use and I was happy with mine for a good while.

I guess it has to be the V3 then! just the price puts me off which makes me half tempted to go with V2!?

It's definitely a good position to be in if the problem is choosing between V1/2/3.

Will be interested to see what route you go down, I've had my eye on the V3's but can't justify the cost of them just yet.

Ill have to have a think still - just the cost puts me off massively but at the same time its probably well worth spending that money to get the V3's ...

I know what you mean.
I thought about it a bit and then took the jump and it was well worth it.

Stetheo - had chat with AMD about what's best for my driving style and decided V1's are best - I think if I got v2 or 3 it would be wasting money on something I wouldn't use to its full potential - saw this on kw website which might help you decide when you get some ...

Choosing A Kit.

The key to using this website is to first of all decide on what you want to do with your car. You can’t find the right suspension unless you know what the car is going to be used for.
You can break that down into 5 categories, which are.
1.Street use where you just want to lower the car and to have a firmer and sportier drive on normal roads.
2. Fast road use where you want to lower the car and to have a firmer drive but also to be able to adjust the ride quality slightly according to the roads that you use.
3. Fast road as well as track use where you not only want to lower the car but also want to have full control over the damper settings.
4. Serious track use where you aren’t concerned too much about the use on the public roads and are a serious track user needing racecar like handling.
5.Racing and motorsport use where the car is raced and not generally used on public roads, generally the car would be trailered to a track or event.

Once you have decided what the car is going to be used for then you can decide on what suspension upgrade is going to be required.

Let’s go through the categories.
1.Purely street use requires either a Street Comfort kit or a Variant 1 kit which gives a lower ride height as standard but also allows some height adjustment.
2.Fast road use requires a Variant 2 kit, which gives a lower ride height as standard but also allows for some height adjustment and also some adjustment of the rebound settings on the dampers.
3.Fast road as well as track use requires a Variant 3 kit which gives a lower ride height as standard but also allows for some height adjustment and also some adjustment of the rebound and low speed bump settings on the dampers.
4.Serious track use requires a Club Sport kit or if a Club Sport kit is not available for your vehicle then possibly a Variant 3 with stiffer springs would be a good alternative.
5.Racing and motorsport use requires a racing setup and we recommend that you fill in our motorsport questionnaire to ensure that you get the right kit for the job.

Be sure to choose the right kit for your use, as an extreme example choosing a Club Sport kit for just road use is not going to be a good choice, the ride quality will seem very bad on all but the smoothest public roads and you would only ever use the softest settings so in the long run it just would not be good value for money.
Similarly choosing a Variant 1 kit for serious track use is not going to be a good choice, the springs would not be adequate for the job of bringing lap times down and there would be no adjustment of the damper settings which you might need for individual tracks or conditions etc.
Think about what is most suitable not what seems cheapest or even ‘top of the range’.

Very informative, thanks for posting that.

Nice, I look forward to hearing your thoughts on the V1's once they have been installed. What drop are you going to go for 20?

No worries at all - helped me make my final decision!- I'm never going to adjust them myself so no point spending that extra money and waste them - and save near £600! which will may for my Mintex pads & Zero Sixty discs !

Yeah I will most probably go for 20mm - maybe 25 if that's an option

Sounds like the best choice overall.

I started with the v3's,having had fully adjustable suspension on the old Escort, and enjoying fiddling around with stuff like that.

It took a good bit of work on AMD's part to get it to the sort of feel I like(!),and kept that for a couple of years, before deciding that we needed a bit more, and settling on the Clubsport gear.

That's better again in terms of body control, but is pretty hard and unforgiving, and no way would I recoomend something like that if you didn't absolutely need it.

Your choice sounds perfect for what you want.

Yeah I think so as well.

I would like to do a couple of track days but that would be it so no point spending loads on the v3 and I should be fine to do that with v1.

Maybe for the next car ill consider stepping it up that bit more!

Find something you're happy with, and don't spend any more!

Stg2+ will round that out nicely.

Completely agree they are worth every penny but what I want from the car and what I will use it for the V3's aren't worth it for me - v2's possibly but yet again I wont be making any changes myself so logical choice for me would be v1's for mainly road use

Well good man for actually thinking about the suspension. For some people its all about the power...

Was very tempted to go straight to 2+ and get the power but I would feel the car isn't solid enough so getting arbs, suspension and brakes would set me up nicely to get it !

Antiroll bars are a must when going stage2+ same to antilift kit best to get them both at the same time. Mine stage 2 felt very, very wobbly and scary at times, now with just those two mods all seems to cope nicely without much drama.

Totally true....you can go faster with better handling and braking than some cars with a lot more power and ropey brakes/handling.

I did the suspension around the same time as Stg2 and felt much the same as you did....the car was wobbly, and poorly controlled before, and the brakes needed sorting as well.
