Hi everyone,

I've been viewing the forum for the past few weeks, so thought i'd sign up and create my first post :)

My name is Heather and i'm from the South Wales area. I've recently just purchased my 1st Audi, a 2010 3dr S3 Black Edition in white. I've always wanted a white car! My two previous motors have been a 1.4 2005 Ford Fiesta and then a 2.0 2005 BMW Z4.

I've only had the car 2 weeks but I love it, it's quite a change to the zed but the S3 with the quattro is much more practical now that I drive over a mountain to work everyday (but still fun to drive)

I don't have much plans in terms of major mods for the car but i'm sure this may change after reading about what you guys have done with your motors. I do have a few questions though if anyone can help out with some advice please?

The car doesn't come with the sat nav, initially that doesnt bother me too much but I would definitely like to add a function that would let me charge/play songs from my iphone/ipod. I currently have the aux in but this doesn't charge/no control on the steering wheel. I was thinking about getting the RNS-E and the ipod connector, but after reading the forum sticky about theft's i'm now not too sure about the RNS-E. What are you thoughts on this? is it worth doing? and what is involved? i.e can I just purchase on eBay or do I need to get it installed by someone for coding it etc? or is it best to get Audi to do it (no idea about cost, but guessing it will be ridiculous!)

My only other concern about the car is that it came with a carbon look vynal wrap to the roof. I'm not sure about it to be honest, I like it but I also think it looks a bit too 'boy racer-ish' to me. What do you all think?

Here are some pics:
(p.s These are the only ones I have at the moment, from where I had the car... until this weather sorts itself out and I can get out and take some nice ones)

Anyways sorry for the long post, but thought it would be better to introduce myself first before asking for advice. Hopefully I can learn lots more from the forum in the coming months and hopefully contribute myself too.

Many thanks, Heather :)

Welcome to the forum Heather, nice looking motor, plenty of ppl on here will advise and help as its a friendy place, I am also looking at a new head unit I have the concert II with Bose but I want sat nav and rear camera, enjoy the forum

Hi mate! Car looks great and you'll be sucked into the mods soon enough haha

And don't like that vinyl wrap at all.. Get it off I'd say!

+1 for losing the vinyl wrap, tackifies a lovely car! Great choice, well done.

Not sure regarding the RNS-e retrofit, all I can say from what I've heard on here is that it's a fairly easy job by someone who knows but really do choose your source carefully for the gear! NHN is a top chap for all things like that, although he's based South East, I'm sure he can advise...

Yay someone else in Wales :icon_thumright: car looks great. I'd take the wrap off as some wraps can be put on to cover something up or put on badly which can damage the paint with the glue. Apart from that I can't help you on the nav part search for a guy called N8 or NHN to answer those sort of questions. But enjoy and a stage 1 map really changes the car you think it's fast now wait till you map it.

Hi heather, welcome to audi-sport.net. Car looks nice, i hope you enjoy the forum. We are all pretty friendly in here. :) x

+ another for loosing the roof wrap

As previously stated NHN is the main go to man on RNSE , if you look through my previous posts I think you'll find an update on mine he did.
It is an expensive upgrade although doing it now is cheaper that it was at factory spec and in my opinion If I was looking to buy a car I'd prefer the RNSE rather than some after market unit. You've got a nice car and for the added expense the RNSE will completely change the interior.

Happy shopping and enjoy

Looks Awesome! Always had a soft spot for the white ones!

nice car i like em in white, im from south wales to and my previous car was a z4 i had the 3.0i though

Welcome to ASN Heather.

I'm sure we can change your plans on not modifying the car!

Thanks guys and gals, I've learnt quite a bit already with a lot of reading in the past week! :)

Here's a close up of the roof, I'm still not sure about it... but that leads me to think it maybe better to get it off sooner rather than later. The garage that I purchased the car from put the wrap on, and I think they had the car in December.

If I do decide to remove, how best to do this? Will it just peel off? Or will I need to take to a specialist? I've never dealt with any car stickers or vynils etc. so have no idea.

Many thanks,
Heather :)

Welcome Heater! :rockwoot: I'm new to, seems to be a great forum so far.

Regarding the vinyl, It's easy but timetaking. Grab a hair blower and heat the vinyl up while slowly pulling the vinyl off, should come right off!

It's a bit odd that the garage put it on maybe they are trying to hide something ... That's just me thinking the worst. If I was you I'd get the dealer to take it off and then if there is any damage you can get them to fix it as they have admitted to fitting it and didn't admit to any damage on the car. So a Win Win in my eyes just a thought.

Thanks guys :)

Morells, a few people have said the same thing. I think that is playing on my mind too. We've tried to feel if there's anything like a chip under the vinyl, couldn't feel anything so not sure.

My problem is, I kinda like it (especially when the car is clean) but I'm worried that there maybe something hiding underneath and I don't want the car too look tacky.

I'll have to make a decision in the next week or two if I'm going to ask the dealer to remove. Def a good plan Morells.

Thank you ;-) H

Nice car! I quite like the contrasting roof, however i wouldn't have it on my own car haha.

As mentioned above regarding removing the vinyl I would get the garage to remove it rather than doing it yourself.
