Yes well the pick u pipe caused the previous pressure problem so maybe so.
If it is the chain, what damage can it cause? if any?

If the chain broke then valve to piston contact as the chain drives the other cam.
Whether you'd only need the tensioner I don't know but if your in there do chain and tensioner.
