The wife has just phoned me to say the cooling fan is running when the car is switched off and locked.

She said that she unlocked it and started the engine then switched it off and it's now stopped.

Is this something to worry about? I have never heard the fan running before.

I'm not sure which engine you have by my A4 3.0 tdi has a DPF and part of the regen causes the fan to run after I've switched off the car.
Does yours have a DPF?

Fan may run on after switching off the engine depending on ambient temp, aircon setting, engine water temp etc. Nothing to worry about. It should switch off after a few mins.

Phil tell her to stop rallying it around so it doesn't have to cool down for as long lol

It happens to me to, hot days when using aircon for 1-2hrs a day. Seems like a normal and useful function.
