    Exclamation HELP!!! Revving when stationary, lumpy sound

    hey, i have a 56 plate 2.0 TFSI a3 quattro s-line last few days the car has been revving when im stationary and tonight sounded pretty lumpy, revs go up then down then up like im revving it, have a vid if needed, seen this before on a thread but cant find it, aslo keeps flat spotting and then all of a sudden pulls at like 4.5/5k revvs dont know if this is linked? thanks

    sounds really lumpy, i did have a clicking noise in car saying air flow and ventilation failure if thats anything to do with it? PCV valve? also i can hear a tshhhh noise when i put the clutch down to change gear, like the dump valve but quite loud? hasnt always done it....

    unplug MAF, go for a spin, if still ****, then its PCV.

    PCV part number:

    06F129101N

    This part has been superseded about 3 times from memory, and i cant quite remember the latest one or if indeed it may be this, so the letter may change when you actually buy it from audi or TPS for example. Either way that number will point the advisor in the right direction as the system will tell him.


    Gasket for it: 06F103483E

    Quite strange actually, as i picked one of these up from Audi Worcester this morning!!

    Always good practice to change the gasket too yes.

    Unplug the one in the yellow circle, ignore the other colours on there.

    cheers, in my defense i am a girl lol, anything else it could be? someone mentioned a breather? (Sorry some of it is foreign to me) waanna know what the tssssh noise when pull clutch up when changed gear

    Could be diverter valve diaphragm split, giving your poor performance.

    Best off getting your car scanned for faults on the diag machine.

    Replace the diverter valve anyway with the latest revision, either Rev D or G. If yours hasnt been replaced yet it must be goosed by now.

    I'm certain its the PCV, its got the full characteristics of PCV failure.

    is the diverter valve and PCV valve the same thing? its only on 50k miles (50.300 or somethng) what codes would either one have? no EM light on tho

    Flat spots, poor throttle response, smoke from rear. (fuel mixture would be wrong, hence smoke)

    Diverter valve and PCV are not the same thing no.

    On a K03 turbo car(like yours) the diverter valve sits right by the turbo,unlike on a later K04 turbo car, where its right near the front.

    The PCV is at the front of the engine underneath your engine cover.

    thanks, dont think ive got smoke, basically car drinks fuel always has done, get a pshhhh from almost behind steering wheel when lift clutch up from changing gear (not always done it) last few months put foot down and sometimes doesnt move or it does abit n then get a kick up the arse n car jumps forward around 4.5k revvs, then yest and today just sitting there in neutral starts revving itself, gong back down then back up and down not over 1.5k revvs tho have a vid if needed, sounds pretty lumpy but cant get to a garage for just over a week..... any ideas?

    From my sofa its getting difficult to diagnose any further, and a video probably wouldnt help. Theres little else to go wrong which is air orientated.

    This pshhhh noise could quite easily be the DV which has faltered, its job is to re-use air and shoves it back to the turbo to keep it spooled, so upon gearchange your venting this air to the atmosphere due to a split diaphragm, hence the flat power feeling.

    And guess where its located? Otherside of the bulkhead behind the steering wheel.

    Either way, if you replace both the DV and the PCV, i'd like to think you'd be fully cured of any turbo lag and you'd have an even idle.

    I'd do MAF last in this situation, as your symptoms suggest other things that i'd say are more likely in my eyes.

    Its obviously not ideal to drive it with a pooped PCV. I'd refrain from unnecessary journeys and do it as soon as you can. It wont blow up or anything...

    PCV £40 + £4 ish gasket

    DV, a used one from £20, or new from around £40-60 depending on who you know...

    "boost pressure regulation not reached" for the DV or something like that. There may not be a fault code produced for it, dont rely on that.

    My experience says simply replace the just DV and PCV.

    thanks just seen the comment bout the DV and the noise... is there a seal or whole thing? would u use eurocarparts or another brand apart from audi?

    Use genuine parts for these items if i were you, cheap chinese parts for example will see you buying it all again shortly down the line.

    Your DV may look like this with a rubber diaphragm instead of a piston type:



    Yours is probably a Rev C, might be a Rev B like the above, either way, you need the updated D or latest G version. You'll need the whole thing, not just a seal.

    The one in the picture above is a 06F 145 710 B.

    If you have a 06F 145 710 C, ideally you want the new one now.

    You need 06F 145 710 D or 06F 145 710 G fitted to your vehicle along with the PCV valve 06F129101N and gasket for it: 06F103483E.

    Hit print, show those part numbers to parts man at Audi. Then get them fitted. Job done.

    I can...I'm a parts advisor..haha but I'm in Worcester and your in Essex..

    so getting them to you including postage and possible breakage etc will probably be more expensive than you going into your local dealer.

    Get a knowledgeable VAG independent to fit them, Audi would charge approximately 1 million pounds.

    Go to AMD Essex. They'll sort you out. Mention the Audisport Forum for a potential discount.

    Personally never heard of them, but thats not to say they're bad. AMD are tried and tested, spoken to them on the phone a couple of times last year, seemed nice guys, endless positive comments from forum members.

    Doesnt tend to send the revs upwards, if anything downward and stalling on idle usually, car may run hot too.

    I dont get the feeling its the EGR in the slightest if im honest.

    cheers so just try and avoid driving it but it shouldnt blow up if i do? gonna be doing bout 225 miles by next sat :/ n more if go to AMD just worried it will blow up

    Can't help with a review of klasse autos but I'm going to guess that I'm not too far from you, more than happy to scan the car for fault codes prior to you buying any parts.
