A3 2.0TDi DSG Problem

I am a new poster here after lurking in the shadows for a while reading this site. So firstly I would like to thank you for all information, hints and tips I have gained from this forum.

I now need some advice regarding a problem with my A3 DSG 54 plate. (106000 miles)

I have read various threads and I am pretty sure I may have a goosed turbo but would like some clarification before booking it in with a garage.

Basically, while accelerating off the drive yesterday I heard a reasonably loud 'pop' followed by sudden loss of power and plenty of dark white smoke. I quickly turned around and put the car back on the drive.

I am aware that this could possibly mean the turbo has blown, but was looking for some basic advice on checking other possibilities myself before ringing the garage on Monday morning.

I have removed the cover below the engine bay and had a look at all connections and pipes heading to or from the general area of the turbo.

They all appear to be connected with no signs of distress except one clipped connection on a large diameter pipe where there appears to be oil seeping through. There was also a large saturated area of oil on the padding attached the engine cover that corresponded with the position of the connection with the oil leak.

Will be taking to my local garage in the morning. Would a job like this be better suited to an Audi/German specialist garage?
