Is yours doing it constantly on idle now you've driven it a few miles with the new map, or has it stopped?

Hi, possibly diesel knock, a hangover from the OBD communications whilst all the control units sync back up again on the CAN BUS. Provided it doesn’t do it anymore and the car runs well with no warning lights visible, you have nothing to be concerned about.

Haven't had a chance to go for a more extended drive yet though, so too early to tell!

Im amazed after all of this you haven't demanded a full refund & compensation off superchips/bluefin and taken the car to be properly mapped, unless you live in a remote area (for which you might but my point is if you don't) Theres hardly a lack of tuners across the length and breadth of the UK who specialise in any of the top name companies.

Just my two pence, but i don't stand for being messed around certainly not when it comes to mapping a £15k-£20k car!

anyone got a graph for the shark on an S3? The bluefin seems stock until 3-4k rpm then feeds the power in, something a little more progressive might be nicer.

It's anything but stock, even at low revs. It's tyre shredding in a FWD if you put your foot down at standstill... much harder to getaway cleanly than stock imo.

It is not as smooth as the stock map or the first map they sent me for regular driving.

    On a different note,
does this look like poor traction or clutch slip or something else. look when it hits lke 4.2k and pauses for a very brief second

To me it looks as though the traction control is killing the power briefly.
Does it still do it with the traction turned off?

Will check on the private road again later tonight with traction off
Hoping its just poor traction and not clutch slip

It looks like it goes pretty well mate.
Usually a trade off with mapping the slight harshness you get.
I've just had Revo stage 1 and although its silky smooth there are some areas I find aren't as smooth as stock.
    It goes really well though.

Mid range hesitation can also be down to the plugs getting a bit tired,if you haven't changed them recently.

Power wise not a massive difference only Revo pulls better from low rpm.
bluefin pulled extremely hard 3.5k upwards Revo pulls very progressive from 2.5k upwards.
As it's the new Revo software it's not as aggressive as Revo used to be.

I went from Stage 2.0 Bluefin to Stage 2.0 APR - mainly because I can change maps with the cruise control and also I wanted to start off with a non-aggressive map. I never had a problem with Bluefin - only wheel spin on a front wheel drive. I was on the old Conti Sport 2 I think but once I'd switched to F1's all was fine. On the APR map there is significantly more low down torque - I can pull away in first for far longer before I need to change gears. Higher RPM's are not much difference between both.

One thing I would say is Bluefin Stage 2 is far smoother than Stage 1. But this is all on a cabrio which is very different to you tin tops ... and in terms of plugs I'm on Denso Iridium ...

I had a bad experience with a 'superchip' stage 1 map. I dont know what went wrong with it but my car had a concerning torque spike of 330 ft lbs and only made 277bhp, it didn't feel right at all. Not only that the fuel economy was dreadful. Latest map is from Shark, not been on the dyno yet but it feels ALOT better and the MPG has improved. Here is my original RR - map2.jpg

Had a few PM's regarding this thread and my view on superchips.

Since I haven't updated you guys, I will now. The new map they sent me has sorted everything out, no more fuel cuts. It has been running pretty smooth since with no hiccups. The above issue of what i thought was clutch slip was actually called budget tyres. They were replaced with michelin pilot sport's and now there is traction again.

Now to the key question that i've been pm'ed about is ; would you use superchips again, and would you recommend bluefin?

Short answer: Yes. I am happy with the map, the customer services are good during office hours (no out of office support though), and it is relatively simple to use. It is a great out of the box solution. Car now goes like a pocket rocket and feels like a completely different car.

The only niggle i would have with the company was poor communication during the festive season.

Quick question as I have bought one of these for my S3 today. When you first plug it in and download the standard cars map off the car, does that then mean the car is undrivable until the new one is sent from superchips?

I work 8-6 Mon to friday and they open 8-5pm Monday to friday so I was hoping to be able to take the original off the car, send it to my computer when I am not working and then upload the new map when I have finished, but with full use of the car in the meantime.

I'd be interested to know if Superchips can effectively map the facelift (post 2009) cars with s-tronic as last time I heard they were still having issues with flastspots on upshifts? I think it was the same story with Revo.

    Anyone got any updates?
