Hi, I have recently bought an A3 2.0 T FSI Petrol, 06 Plate. Whilst the engine is running I occasionaly get a sort of oscillating whirring noise. It sounds sort of like a cd player spinning up and down, osciallating at a constant speed. It is not always there, but does get louder when I have been driving for longer/at higher speeds. Is this a normal sound? Could this be a sign of the turbo on its way out perhaps? Thanks for any advice in advance.

I did think about that, however, it has a sort of metallic sound to it. Aswell as coming on as soon as I start the engine from cold. Do you know if the fans are cotrolled by the ecu or a relay?
