The driver's side rear brakes are binding on my 2005 A3 2.0 TFSI. I can smell the pads burning and feel the heat from the disc. I took the wheel off and confirmed that the wheel turns by hand but is dragging...but the handbrake cable didnt seem to be seized (and doesnt feel like it's seized from using the handbrake on a hill).

A couple of questions:

1) Is the handbrake adjustable, or does it automatically adjust.

2) Is this a common problem on the A3, before I go to the hassle of removing the caliper and cleaning the sliders etc.

Thanks for any tips!

I have the same problem on my 06 3dr. It's also the drivers rear one. Some people have suggested that taking it apart and regreasing the calliper solves the problem, but I haven't got round to doing it yet

If you end up pulling the brakes, may as well replace the sliders and boots. Pretty inexpensive to do so.

Pob just needs to be dismantled, cleaned up and lubed...

This was happening my 06 3dr last week, drivers rear side too, luckily I needed new pads anyway so two birds one stone
