How to change headlight bulbs (HID) S3 2007?? Space is so tight...

My lights are on the way out, they keep flickering when cold....I thought I'd take one out to get the details to order the same lamps but could not believe the lack of space to even get to them....do you have to take the bumper off and lights out or is it possible to change them without loosing your temper...any thoughts would be very much appreciated
