Queries about my Audio setup

My car is a 2006 8P 3Dr 2.0Tdi sport (140). I haven't owned it long and I work pretty long hours so I try to look into different bits and pieces when I get the chance.

I've noticed that whoever had the car before me had their own sub in the boot and just cut the power cable before selling:



I was searching for advice on how to remove the boot liner to have a look at what was done and whether the original sub was completely removed (there is no sound from the boot when music is played) but the only one that seemed to address it was from AndyMac and his pdf guide showed up a 404 error. Can anyone else advise on the best way to get in there for a look (pics would be great!)?

With music playing I have also noticed that the speakers in the back seat area aren't working and I don't know why :/



Also, I'm assuming these boot lid speakers are not stock?
