Silly Question (Rear light connector)

Is there a knack to removing the rear light connector on a 8P. fitting facelift rear lights and cannot get them off for ****. broke one already.
 
5 or 3 door?
I did my 5 door on the weekend - connectors came off easily... squeeze the tabs and pull
