BOV vs DV vs RECIRC ??????

I can guarantee that this has been asked a million times but I can't find a straight answer anywhere

whats the difference between the above 3??

do any of them harm the engine?

and which one for just slightly more 'pshhh' than my standard 2007 S3 one??

is forge the best company to use?

    any help would be appreciated

    thanks

BOV vs DV vs RECIRC ??????

Isn't BOV the same as a DV, a recirc valve recirculates the pressure back into the inlet rather than dumping it into the air like a DV does, which is bad?
I think that's right anyway. Loads of useful info on this site, how I learnt not to buy a DV, but to buy the recirc valve for my A4. Could be different for other engines, I dunno *shrugs*

as far as most say, us VAG folk do not dump to atmosphere (this is for jap cars) we put the air back through the system. The computer has already recorded the air going in, so if we dump it outside the engine thinks there is air inside which isnt! which can caus brief rich fuel mixing when changing gear, which is bad.

HOWEVER, im sure theres a guy on here who used a forge dumpvalve (to atmosphere) and he got it dyno'd and stuff and it hasnt lost any power.

Its your choice, but tbh with a proper induction kit, the WHOOOOSH is well loud enough anyway!!! and mine is just the 2.0T A3 not even the S3 with bigger turbo.

I fitted one of the GFB DV+ diverters to my S3 yesterday. However I was more interested in maintaining boost than making the noise.

Yeh no need to change the dv really. Unless ya stage 1 the car then you may want to get a oem revision d Diverter Valve (recirc) or forge kit or prolly better the GFB DV+ adaption that fits into oem DV. Noo pssst noises really. Wooshes from air filters tho as mentioned

According to Nick at R-Tech, the G revision diverter is the OEM valve of choice. It has a more robust diaphragm than the C revision. The D revision has the piston which is known to leak. The G revision is also much cheaper than the D revision. I have had it confirmed from Brett the engineer at GFB that the DV+ works equally well with the solenoid from all revisions if the valve.

i've had rev d and forge dv and now dv+. dv+ doesn't make so much noise as the forge one did (which i actually like after having forge for few years), but it's better on gear change, and the car is little more responsive.
