Hi all,

I have an 18 month old A3 Tdi Sport and I have noticed a part under the bonnet getting more and more rusty each time I check the oil, it is at the front of the engine bay and just behind the drivers headlight, it has pipes coming out of the top……the top of this unit is completely rusty, have any of you with the same car having the same problem?........was thinking of going back to the dealer to have it changed as it looks really bad and isn’t what you expect from an 18 month old Audi.

Thanks

I think it is part of the climate control and is called the condenser, I think. During winter, salt collects on the top and starts to rust a little bit. I just spray some WD40 on it to slow down the rusting process, but it's nothing to worry about. Take a look at the under side of the car some time, and your catalytic converter!

Thanks, will spray some WD40 next time I'm under the hood.
