    Lowering car to s-line height

    I got the normal 2004 audi a3 with 17inch alloys.. i want to put on the s line alloys 18" but i want it to sit like the sline version... as i think its lower....

    how much lower is it, and where can i get a set. i dont mind paying alot for them cause i want the ride to be nice still!!! if you know what i mean.. ive had coilover on previous cars and i hated it.. so please give me some advice.

    If you want it exactly S-Line height then the best option would be S-Line springs from Audi.

    I'm not sure you'll notice any difference tbh.
    When I got my BE it was parked next to my 07 Sport for a while and I struggled to see much difference in ride height. As you say you've got 17's then I assume you have a Sport, as the SE's had smaller wheels.
    You might be better off with some 30mm lower springs.

    If your old standard springs have sagged with age (they probably have over the last 9 years), then they're probably about the same height as brand new S-Line ones would be.

    I found this in an old thread about ride heights:

    sport is 10 mm lower than standard
    s-line is 15mm lower than sport (25mm below standard)
    s3 is 10 mm lower than s-line (35mm below standard)

    OP - if you have a 1.6 FSI I will buy your old springs if they are standard (not sport or s-line) once you change. The ride on my sport is awful.

    yeah mines 2004 so probley have sagged a lil... i guess ill put the wheels on and see what they look like... and JohnE its 2.0 so doubt it would be any use and ill keep them just in case the ride is ****..... and i might see how much audi want for the springs... i just feel when i put these 18s on the gap is big enoguh as it is having another bigger wheel will make it look ridiculous (off roading look LOL)

    If you go standard sizes, the overall diameter of the wheel/tyre doesn't change much so I'm not sure how 18s would look any more "off road" than 17s ? - the gap shouldn't be any different.

    End of month i will be selling my h&r 45mm-50mm lowering springs for sportback not sure its same as 3door someone can clarify for you, £120 they only been on car since february this year

    I can vouch ride is harsh with 18s and 40 profile tyres! But it's pretty firm cornering though.

    i disagree, ap coiloves with 18's and 40 profile is about 10 times better than my previous JOM's with 17' and a comfy 45 profile!

    I mean standard set up fella, not coilovers, I had a sport before my s line and it's a noticeable difference, not sure what difference coilovers make though.

    Heard JOM's are rubbish. Having had a few FK's I think they are not bad at all. For the money very good!

    but have you ever had any AP's or more expensive coilovers?

    its only till you do that you realise just how bad JOM's/FK's are. Cheap FK's I mean.

    I put 35mm-lowering Eibachs on my old sport and felt that the ride was as harsh as a w*ores heart and also didn't think it sat anywhere near as nice as the S3...

    Probably down to the skirts and the S3's lowered bumpers though

    I don't think S Line height it worth lowering, at least lower it as much as S3...

    If I were you I would go for good spring rather than budget coilovers...
