Yes it can,but how to fix it will depend on what caused it.

If you're running much over stock torque, the software can be remapped in some cases to raise the clamping pressure of the clutch, and much over 400lbs would mean a rebuild with uprated clutch plates.

Check Youtube, video on there how to correctly change the two clutch plates.

Stock power, 140. It just sounds as if it slips if I labour it (below 1400 rpm) in manual uphill. It 'groans'!

Change down and it takes full throttle no problem....

The reason I ask is because I have a similar sensation with my Bluefin'd petrol car. It produces roughly equal torque to yours & I don't boot it regularly, but when I plant my foot in "D" I get a slight rise in revs before kickdown & the car moves on! It's a more instant reaction in "S" mode, which feels like it has a more aggressive clutch bite.

I put it down to the stock DSG software taking its own sweet lazy time to react for a smoother & more relaxed gear change, and I can certainly identify with what Alex posted about clamping pressures above. Even for Manual mode, it makes total sense that the software would limit certain parameters differently in different driving modes.

Have you tried it in S mode to see if the bite improves? at least then you can maybe get an idea if the clutch still has any ...erm ...teeth left.

Never needed S mode! I'll give it a go.

It can't be serious as it was like it when I bought it 26 months ago.

I quite like S3Alex's suggestion about the clamping pressure. Might pop into Teesside Audi!

I have a similar problem and my local geabox specialist says it is classic and needs a clutch plate replacement, there are 2 of them.
