Strong smell (diesel?), what's wrong?

Coming from the exhaust, only notice is when I get out of the car while the engine is still running. Very potent, must be fuel. But there's no smoke. Fairly certain this got worse when the injector recall was done.

It also misfires a fair bit at low rpm. Some days it's fine though, doesn't seem to be any routine to it.

Not found any solutions through searching Car is in for MOT and service next week so hoping I can pinpoint it by then. What are my options?

it scans for a fault within the engine, injectors, cylinders etc, try to scan it see if anything comes up?

I had it scanned at the weekend and no faults... not what I was expecting. Could do with some more suggestions

tandem pump gasket went on my passat (2.0 TDI). cheap and easy fix. its on the side of the head (pass side). look down the side of the head/block and top of gearbox for signs of leaking diesel.
