    Source of my rattle

Well this little bugger was the cause of my rattle problem that's been plaguing me for a month at least, will it be safe to be left off or should I look at replacing it ASAP?

Cant see it being a problem. There are 1000's of cars on the road that dont have debris guards behind the discs. The guard is also there to keep water off the rotor so that you have better braking in the wet (apparently)

Its been a constant battle for the past month to try and find the source of that damn rattle, so glad it's come to a head. Going to take this thing down to the reservoir, tie a brick to it and throw it off the bridge

Was gonna say tie it down with something as if you throw it away being the shape it is, it would probably come back to you and smack you on the back of the head.......lol

Haha, I've decided to cut it up and show it to the rest of the guards so they know I mean business if they decide to think about rattling in the future

I'd replace is personally, but I'm fussy! Just replace it next time the rear brakes are being done as you have to take them all off anyway

Cheers Nigel, will look into getting it replaced. Any idea what the official name is for the part so I can speak to Audi mate?

Its known officially as "cover plate for disc brake", but known on the street as dust guard, stone guard, disc cover, brake disc cover

Haha, no worries. You know what Audi are like, I spent 10 mins on the phone with them asking about a HPFP cam follower. They'd never heard of it, turned out they called it 'The plunger'.
