Hi guys, I'm looking for advice here. I have a 2005 audi a3 2.0tdi 140bhp 6speed with engine code bkd and gearbox code hdv. The gearbox was gone so sourced a gearbox from a scrap dealer. The gearbox code is jma and I believe it was from the 170bhp golf 2.0tdi 6speed. Now my question is will that gearbox fit into the bkd motor? Sorry I'm not mechanically minded so need a second opinion before I send the car to the mechanic. Many thanks

You can swap codes between 140 bhp but with 170 not entirely as some might fit some not. Sorry for not being helpful enough mate.
Make some phone calls where they sell gearboxes or ebay it would be quicker that way, looked at few and they all got phone numbers to call

TBH you should stick to the same box code to maintain perfect compatibility, as minor differences can cause immense issues when coming to fitting.
Just to say guys. Had the gearbox fitted today and everything is working as normal. Many thanks again
