    New A3 owner (issues)

    Hi guys,

    I'm new here

I brought myself an 2005 A3 2.0 TDI with 91,500 on the clock when i brought it about two months ago and so far I've had nothing but issues with it!

I'm looking for a bit of advise really as I'm not sure on what to do.

The first thing to go was the master cylinder on the clutch so I took it back to the place i brought it from and they changed it for me under the warranty, when i got the car back they had not put all of the clips back on the pipes in the engine and the turbo pipe fell off so had to recover it back to the garage (they had blamed the clip breaking but the breakdown guy pointed out all of the other clips they had missed.)

I only had a 1 month warranty with it and once that was up I all of the other issues started happening...

I was going to London for work so thought it'd be nice to take it for a blast down the M1 but on the way there it kept going into limp mode and I had to keep pulling over to turn the car on and off.

On the way back still going into limp mode every so often the engine management light came on.

Once I was back I spoke to the garage I had brought it from and they said that its nothing to do with them as it was outside of the months warranty, but they would look at the issues for me.

I ended up taking it to a Audi specialist near where I live, they ran a diag on it and it came back with a few issues....

2 Glow plugs were not working - i know this is just ware and tear on the car so not that fussed and they have now been changed.
turbo was over boosting and was also sticking.
Clutch needed bleeding from the master cylinder change (the first garage didn't do this)

So the specialist has cleaned the turbo but its still going into limp mode at least twice a day, I've spoken to them again and they said that i need to give it a few months and run a couple tanks of diesel through it before I notice any difference

When I brought the car there was a siren noise I which I didn't know what it meant so I've looked into it and it appears the turbo may be on the way out

I've sent the garage I brought it from a letter they have replied with a lot of lies and are taking no responsibility for the car.

In the time I've had it its been off the road for about 3 weeks.

Today on the way to work it went into limp mode and now the engine management light is back on.

I'm starting a new job soon which is 60 miles per day and I've lost all trust in the car now.

At this point I don't know what to do, want to give them the car back but I know they are going to accept it.

Sorry for such a long post

    Cheers,
    Seb

    Welcome to the site Seb.

How did the indy clean the turbo, bet with some innotec cleaner which tbh wont do squat mostly, needs turbo removing & checking for play & either refitting or replacing for another.

My old 05 A3 2.0tfsi had an issue with the car going into limp mode on the motorway all the time, turns out that the fault was a faulty maf sensor....

You could maybe try taking that off and giving it a clean and see if your car lasts a bit longer on the motorway before going limp!

If so then replacing that would be my 1st option...

I have the same car and also had limp mode problems.
It was down to the turbo.
Sounds like they didn't do it properly as I had to send mine off to get reconditioned, and fit new boost pipes.
    It runs perfect now.
