I was wondering if the collective knowledge here could please recommend a good code reader for my wife's A3, it has thrown a wobbly on the braking system when cornering hard and I have had a sporadic engine malfunction light together with misfire. I would like to track down the likely culprits as a cursory check of the braking system finds it in good order.

Code reader will do just that, if you want to recode, clear, diagnose etc then VCDS hands down is the best option.

Get yourself VCDS mate. Although it can seem quite expensive initially, in the long run it isn't. Couldn't even begin to count the amount of times I've used mine.

Vcds is the best option it's not really that expensive when you consider Audi are around £100 just for diagnostics so it pays for itself really quickly and it's free updates for life also it is widely used by all vag owners so loads of experience with it around .
