The 3 bolts that go through the front bumper are sheared on my A3..
Image below indicated the 3 bolts in question:

I have ordered replacement bolts, however, can anyone advise on what component the thread is in, before i go twisting these out.

Thanks! :)

They're called rivet nuts, they need compressing into position with a tool similar in design to the metal plasterboard compress type bolts, getting the old ones out is a pita, can buy new rivet nuts from audi.

Do you have a part number?
I have ordered a new lock carrier, bumper..
Which part do the new rivet nuts go into??

Don't need them if you ordered a new lock carrier & get parts from audi, I don't have numbers in front of me.

When I took my front bumper off, I just unscrewed them and screwed them back in once I'd done and they were fine.

Some get rusted in & will not come out & snap, so have to be replaced, I'd always advise greasing them ones up.

Just wanted to be prepared for the worst!
I can see that someone has taken grips to them before for extraction.. :(

I'm guessing the rivet nuts go into the lock carrier? I ordered the replacement as non OEM, so i am guessing it won't have them...
