    Pollen/Cabin Filter Change

Since I had the aircon cleaned and regassed a couple of weeks ago I thought I would give the pollen filter a change too.

The filter was last changed in May 2013 at 66k miles, car currently has 73k August 2013.

Now before changing I thought it wouldn't of been too bad but boy was I in for a shock.

See below for new vs. old. Bare in mind, this filter has only been in the car for 3 months and 7k.

Date stamp on the old filter co-insides with the service date so it was definitely changed.

Swapped like for like, same part number 1K0 819 644 B .. B denotes charcoal filter for cars with aircon.

Moral of the story is, filters don't last as long as you'd think so check them regularly!

    Very easy to do,

Stick your hand down into the passenger footwell, find the two little finger screws at the back of the glovebox surrounded in the foam, untwist these, pull the foam out, put your hand up and pull the pollen filter housing cover off (slides) and pull the old filter out, new one in and do everything up again, job done.

I don't think Audi supplied me the correct filter as looking online the charcoal one seems to be black(er) to start with and I believe Audi gave me the non-charcoal one hence why it's white.

Will be taking it back on Monday and refitting.

Yep only realised that after looking online. I rang them this afternoon and they apologized and will replace it with the charcoal one on Monday.

They got the part from my VIN though, maybe lifted the wrong one of the shelf.

I had my b8 a4 serviced by audi and they fitted a white pollen filter so is there much of a difference between a white one and the charcoal one maybe just cheaper for them to use the white one?
