Hi All,

Just done a search but not been able to find much related to Front Door Bass Speakers not working in an 2007 A3..

Both of mine are not working (left and right), playing with the fader and balance controls confirms this, as does the VCDS scan shown below.

The scan says both are open circuit so I was wondering if anyone has seen this before or if there is a common place they fail.

I guess it could be the speakers themselves, the wiring (especially across door hinges ?) or maybe the head unit itself.

I have the standard Audi Concert (double DIN is it?) head unit if that helps, nothing fancy like BOSE.

Any recommendations as to where start looking ?

Thanks guy's.

Had a play this morning...

With the passenger door open and wiggling the rubber grommet thing between the A Pillar and the door the speaker works.

Deffo intermittent though, as can hear it cut out and in as you wiggle..

So, sounds like a dodgy wire or connection.
Can't decide if it is a wire or if wiggling the wiring is dislodging a connector or something.

anyone else had a similar problem ?

The drivers door speaker doesn't work either, and no such luck in making that work by wiggling, so must be another problem.

Any idea's ?

Ta.

If u open the grommet youll clearly see if the wire is broken. Ive got a B6 and was shocked when I saw nearly all my wires were broken.

Got the same intermittent fault on my car too, but only on the passenger side, haven't tried wiggling that grommet yet as I haven't caught the speaker failing just found the faults in a vcds scan.

Thanks for the info.

I had something similar. I lost all sound. I only solved it by accident. The passenger side windscreen pillar where there is an airbag, I had run a wire for an rnse satellite antenna. I must of crossed some wires somehow cause I was adjusting the wires and all my sound came back. I must of created some kind of short. Probably wont help you though :(
