Hey guys i'm new to the whole v/w audi scene so hello!
I have just recently acquired a 2006 audi A3 TDI Quattro and the ESP light was coverd on the dash, once removed and diagnosed I got a code reading of 01324 (no communication to control module) instead of messing around i checked the ovbious (wires/condition) and all seemed ok so I took it to a specialist who diagnosed it and advised me to buy a second hand unit. I then purchased one on ebay complete with diff and pump and had the whole lot fitted, I had the phone call today to tell me that its bad news and this unit is bad also. I really don't know where to go next I have two complete rear diffs and both dont work. the error code is the same however now with the second unit when I clear the codes it stay off for maybe a minute max. any help really really would be appreciated!

Sorry to ask the obvious but have you checked the fuses if the garage covered the light on the dash then I wouldn't put it passed them to do other things to beat the issue.

Hey thanks for the fast reply! I did check the fuses (all the ones listed as ABS in the manual right?) I asked the garage the same question and they said that because they can read the second unit its definitely not a fuse, my basic vag reader just shows 01324 like it did on the first but the software they where using on the second one defines the problem to be a control valve faliure as well as control module failure. I really don't know where to go next and neither did the garage lol

If you just bought the car from a garage who had covered the light and tried to hide the fault why on earth are you paying for the repair.

So the first haldex controller that was on the car had a no communication error and now the 2nd unit has communication but a error on the valves.

To sum it up yes lol! The car was bought private at around £1000-1500 below retail prices so I see why it was cheap now I thought I was on a win finding a used unit but guess not. What's your opinion next?

I'd take rear wheels off and clean the ABS sensor ring/s.

My abs system seems to have no issue at all and has no error codes telling me the rear pick-ups are bad are you shore this would help? Lol

Stop and get it scanned with something better than a basic code reader before you waste yet more money. Where are you located?

Agreed with the above ,cheap code readers can send you away with various codes which have nothing to do with anything fitted on that vehicle, has your got other obvious things that would automatically not work if the esp wasnt working like, abs, cruise control etc? if the airbag squib/steering control module also knock the esp light etc when its got a fault ?

Thanks for the info guys I'm located in Cardiff but I'm willing to travel to the right place Lol, to add light to the situation I took my car to a vw specialist who had all the vcds gear and I've found out they put normal diff oil in the haldex controller so I'm guessing the first thing I need to do is get that drained and get the correct fluid in. Ive also check my old pump and ran a live feed to it and that works perfect also. So as they have put normal diff oil in is the unit screwed? To say I'm unhappy is an understatement

So as I've got work commitments I've been still running the car for around a week now, does anyone know if the gearbox oil will screw up the haldex up? I've turned on the key and can hear the pump activate but it sounds like its got bubbles in it? Should I stop driving the car guys? Lol (gear oil is 75/90 BTW)
