Guys,

Im about to change clutch and flywheel on my 2004 A3 2.0 tdi however Im struggling to find a decent guide anywhere.

Ive replaced clutches before so not overly worried, its just nice to see it having been replaced before and know where to look for hidden bolts etc.

Can anyone point me in the right direction (yes.. Ive searched allready)

I've never done it before but would probably try and look into getting Haynes Manual.

Unsure on gearbox but its a BKD engine if that helps. 6 speed manual box

Give your local Audi dealer a call and quote your VIN and they should be able to tell you

my quick guide
call john (my pal)
and let him do the graft.

Rather a short guide but quite involved!

Remove air filter & pipe work
Remove battery & tray
Disconnect gear selector on top of gearbox
Disconnect clutch hydraulics
Remove under tray
Remove drive shafts
Crack off the bell housing bolts
Secure the engine
Remove top gearbox mount
Undo dogbone mount
Remove bell housing bolts
Ease gearbox away from engine
Remove gearbox from under the car

Prob missed something but goes along the lines of that!

For everyones benefit I finally got round to replacing flywheel, clutch and slave cylinder today.

Appears to be an easy job ignoring the weight of the box and jiggery pokery to get it back on.

I also got a bargain from carparts4less, euro car parts sister company.

Sachs dual mass flywheel, Sachs clutch kit and sachs slave cylinder for £292 posted.

Bargaintastic:)

The old LUK clutch plate wasnt too worn however the flywheel was absolutely wrecked, roughly 15-20mm of play in all directions.

Im surprised it wasnt louder in the car!
