Wheel offset question

Sorry i have searched and couldn't really find a definite answer...

I want an aggressive stance on my 06 A3 5 door sportback, currently on standard suspension but will be on coils with an aprox 40mm drop.

What is the widest wheel i can run in the rear with the correct offset?
I know 18x8.5 et45 is perfect for the front (correct me if im wrong), would 9.5 et35 or 40 work in the rear?

I got 9.5 et 40 on the rear of mine, gonna need a 225/35 tire on it, 8.5 et45 on the the front will give a fair bit of tuck, you would be able to get away with putting 8 or 10mm spacers on it for a more aggressive stance, there's pics of mine in the cobra bucket seats thread I posted up the other day.
