After looking around at air intakes and not wanting to spent a fortune I decided to make my own.
Got everything I need of eBay. Total cost was around £60.
It makes a good sound once the car hit 3kRPM.

Started off with the cold air feed, which was a mod in itself.

Looks ok doesn't it?
Any suggestion to improve on, other than a heat sheild.

Thanks Corey

Stands out would be much better with heat shield, also does the bonnet not hit it when its down as it seem a bit high up pal ?

Haha thanks yeah just a little bit. But better being bright.
What would be best for a heat sheild? Aluminium sheets surrounding it on the sides and top or...?

Its a close fit to the bonnet but no rubbing or anything so it's all good

Yh some reflective metal to keep engine heat away from the actual cone filter, bet it sounds awesome, yh looks nice in red stands out i have red hoses under my hood too i love them people get amazed if i pop the hood as its a TDI

Aqua lock comes too mind with that cold air feed but otha wise looks good for the money

How does that happen ?? Shoots cold water right into the engine block ?

that won't happen, there is no way that there will be so much suction at the cone that it will pull water up the cold air feed dispite the fact it's not even connected! I've had this happen to me before an it was on a bmc cda with sealed intake and cold air feed mounted to the bottom of the bumper, my cylinders were full of water and I ended up with a new engine

What about intakes on tdi's ? The intake goes onto the turbo will that have any issues as im looking at getting a boxed air intake

Thanks for the comments guys.
Yeah don't think I'll aqua lock my engine tend to stay clear or puddles and water spray.
Should have an update in a few week with the air box .
