Hello all,

I've got my car booked in for a Revo stage one next week. I know there are a lot of alternatives out there, I've used superchips before, but there is a local specialist that's a Revo dealer and I've heard good things about the map - my mate had a revo map on his 8L S3 and loved it.

Has anybody else had experience of this remap on a Tfsi Quattro?

I'd be interested to hear if you have.

Sam

Yes.

All the way from Stg1 to Stg4.

The Stg1 remap gives you a decent amount more power but more importantly it adds more torque.

The car is much more driveable and the torque means you aren't constantly looking for higher rpm.

Highly recommended.

Had the wife's 2.0 TFSI Quattro remapped a couple of months ago, improved throttle response, sizeable increase in mid range torque plus a lot more shove at the top, well worth doing. Drivability much improved.

Dave

I'm on Revo stage 1 on my 2008 S3 and I'm over the moon with it.

It completely unlocks the potential of the standard engine, gives you a lot more mid range torque and irons out the flat spots in the rev range as well as adding a little peak power.

Definitely recommended.

Hi.
I have tried the 2.0tfsi/TSI quattro & DSG on stage1 (245bhp)
This madethe car as a totaly different motor. Dont think, JUST DO!

Have since moved to a K04 upgrade witch will be installed soon i hope :)

Good stuff, thanks guys.
I guess the OE clutch is well up to the increases?

I had my car done when I had it and it transformed the car. A lot more drivable and responsive. In fact the car was sold with it still mapped so who ever bought it is probably loving it!

yer i want to do this but worried about my poor clutch, (if its even standard who knows) :/

love it! no issues since i've switched from different tuner stage 2 map to revo stage 2+ and i love every moment driving the car.

Good stuff, thanks guys.

My advice to anyone uprating the torque is to budget on a new clutch at some stage.

Some cars are fine at Stg1,and some are not......mine made it through Stg1 and chucked in the towel immediately at Stg2.

A new Sachs or Loba clutch will come to about £1100.

I had my Ko3 2.tfsi quattro done with Giac software and it was brilliant, clutch never faltered in the 2.5 years i had it and never even slipped slightly, the only thing i would also is a good intake to make sure it can rev freely and make sure you have the uprated diverter on it (Depending on what year your cars on) as mind was on the old 'D' type and it soon ripped the old bladder apart inside, mine was dyno'd at 247bhp that was before the intake was fitted and the plugs were poop so after those were replaced and it seemed more spritely it might have given it 250/255 i reckon.

I'm not on Revo but a custom map, car is stock other than the map and it dyno'd last week and made 260bhp. Its a different car to when I bought it and regardless of which map you go for it does transform the car from one that struggles to feel turbocharged at standard to one that will give most things a run for the their money.

Nice. Though tbh, the stock 2.0tfsi (200bhp) to me feels very punchy and has bags and bags of torque. Enough that I monstered by clutch and had to go Sachs. I have been putting off a remap until I get stage2+ funds together ... but that's taking longer than I thought.

Stage2+ is an expensive one I toyed with it but don't think I'll keep the car long enough to warrant it. Clutch on mine isn't great it's noisy as in release bearing but no slip touch wood! I just love the Quattro it puts all the power down I can't spin it and there isn't much that will touch mine, I think I'd give a stock s3 a run for its money just because there isn't much lag on boost. Custom maps with logging are the way forward that's personal opinion of course.

To be fair, you should be able to match a stock S3,as you're level on power and weight.

Lag isn't really an issue on either car at this sort of output either,so it should be pretty much equal.

As to custom maps and logging.....most reputable Revo,APR,or Shark dealers will load the software, and the log the car on the RR and road before giving the car back to you,so in a sense, this is already the state of the art.

I think tuner who simply loads a generic map and doesn't tailor it to the car and driver is really not doing the job fully......if you look at most Revo mapped cars for instance, you will find individual settings for boost, fuelling and timing do vary from car to car.

I have Revo Stage 1 on my 2.0T and it has totally transformed the car. Much nicer drive, power delivery is smooth and pulls in every gear. Highly recommended.

I may be wrong, but when I was talking to Ben at Shark, he said for their maps (and stage2 was being discussed) they don't RR, and there is a £70 charge if you want it put on the RR for a readout....

Make of that what you will.

Interesting.

Maybe I just get spoilt down here!....before the Stg1 map was loaded, the car was put on the rolling road, checked, and then the software loaded, and then checked again on the RR before being taken out for a test drive.

At the risk of being rude the amount you have spent on your car I'm surprised you don't get a champagne reception and dancing girls each time you roll up ;-)

In regards to revo and shark etc nothing against them but our local revo dealer doesn't really know much about the settings for individual cars its flash on basis they will put it on a rolling road but if something needs adjusting they call revo.. If you're going the custom route you have to trust the tuner.. Horses for courses I suppose...

Good one....I nearly fell off my chair laughing!

I do get coffee and biscuits, and sometimes get my car valeted, but I think the latter is because my car is usually so dirty that Ben wants to see what the original colour was.

I think you're right though about trusting the people doing the work, and it goes back to what I said about some doing the job to the max,and others doing just what it takes.

I've been fortunate in having companies that actually race cars, and people that either are,or have been racers to a good level, doing the work on my cars, and the quality and attention to detail that comes from that is well worth it.

I totally agree with you.. It's a trust thing and there are bad and good tuners as will all things.. My tuner is certainly a character and he won't mind me saying that but he's passionate about his trade and I salute that.. I paid one price and he's tweaked and changed things lots of times to make it run as best as it can.. But he's a perfectionist and that suits me fine.

On the flip side there are plenty who ruin cars and wallets..

Ask for dancing girls next time and ill come with!

You're on!

The worst things I've ever seen from a once well known Cosworth tuner were:

1.The exhaust they fitted to my Sierra, which was poor from day one,but the chap I went to afterwards found out why....

Instead of taking a bend around the gearbox, this loon had simply cut a side out of the pipe and welded a flat piece into it,reducing the diameter to less than the stock exhaust...oh and almost all of the welds had blown.

2.Best advert of all....a Cosworth head being rebuilt on a piece of cardboard on the floor.

Never went back.

Next chap had been a BTTC,rallycross and Historic GpC racer(the latter takes some b*lls) and built engines in a clean room.

Best car I've ever been in in terms of sheer wet yourself factor was a 428 bhp escort cossie my god I thought I was going warp speed :p

Bit OT,but have a look at this one.

S3Alex's Album: Old car.....

That was my daily driver for a few years.

Still have a bit of a love for the escort cosworth . If I won the lottery I'd have one in the garage just like I'd also have a 5 gt turbo! I crashed into a lamp post in one not a pretty site I can tell you. Just saw a concours one go on eBay for 15k!!!!!! 15k on the clock on original tyres!

I want an escort cossie :-(
