My A3 8p alarm has been going off randomly in the last 24 hours, upon investigation it would appear the computer thinks that the boot open.
The dash display is showing that the boot is open and subsequently doesn't allow the rear wiper to wash/wipe.
So I searched the forum, concluded that taking the tailgate panel off and giving everything a good blast with WD40 and an airline was the way forward.
I did this refitted everything and then a small metal contact (which had been lose for a while, I left it alone) fell out today.

This 15mm copper looking contact seems to have snapped off of somewhere but where exactly in the lock mechanism is it from?
What does it do?
Do I need it?
Help please experts!!!
