    CR140 Timing Belt interval

I'm just looking to buy a 2010 Black Edition CR140, but I'd like to know when the Timing Belt is supposed to be changed.
I imagine the interval is in the Service book, but as I haven't bought it yet I can't have a look and I don't want to buy one that's overdue.
I can't find it through the search function either. There's just loads of info on the PD engines.

Can anybody tell me what mileage/age it's due a change please.

    Thanks.

The closest info I found was on another forum for the CR engine in the Jetta. On there they were saying it was 130k miles, which sounds a lot!
Not sure if this is accurate or the same on the A3 though.

The one I was looking at is on 71k, so I guess I'll have to fork out for that as well now. Maybe I can use it to get a bit off the asking price.

I think you should be able to get yours done under the fixed price servicing option. They quote a fixed £439 for cars over 3 years old.
Still not what you want to hear after spending big money on your other bill, but a little better than £600.

That doesn't include the water pump and tensioner which you might as well do at the same time.

My local specialist just quoted me £380 all in..

mine says that but it also says the S3 is 114k miles so I don't trust it at all.
I think they've revised all those that are printed now and I'd go by the website.

Surely different engines need the belt changing at different intervals?
I imagine Audi are just saying 75,000 across the board so we all have to book in and spend more cash with them.

    Here's what my book says:

    1.6 TDI
    210,000km (133,000 miles)

    1.9 TDI
    150,000km (95,000 miles)

    2.0 TDI
    210,000km (133,000 miles)

    2.0 FSI
    180,000km (114,000 miles)

This was bugging me so I phoned Audi to ask them direct. The guy had a little laugh when I explained service book states 114k but Audi website and Audi state 75k or 5 years. His response was, Audi head office reckon that due to different climate in Uk compared to Germany the belt should be replaced sooner.. the laugh came from fact that we have same climate! Germany a bit colder in winter!

    So..

    A3 2.0 TDi in Germany, 114k
    Audi A3 2.0 TDi in UK, 75k

Sounds like rubbish and wanting more money off us to me!

Thanks for checking that out. It's sort of what I'd guessed to be honest. So they just standardise the engines at a ridiculously low mileage in order to make us spend cash sooner.
The fact the guy at Audi chuckled at it says a lot.

The but comes from the fact if it breaks after 75k, you'll have no come backs to Audi dispite the mileage in the service book. Audi fixed pricing for belt kit, water pump and tensioners fitted is £465

Getting it changed earlier rather than later is more for peace of mind I think. If it breaks, you're buggered.
