    Hi Suzy,

Can you hear the pump running when you try and use it? - If so flip up the little black tab on the wiper and you should see 2nozzles, make sure that they are not blocked - If they are not blocked i would remove the boot liner and make sure that there isnt any leaks, as leaking washer can lead to damaging the boot actuator,

they have a tendancy to get clogged if you get something thin enough to cleanem out it usually works, best to look for any of the fluid sitting in the tailgate as this is also common too

Ah ok thanks the pump is running and when I purchased the car it's was damp in boot and a lot of condensation so I will check for blockages.

Take it back because you will need a new wiper motor !

The motor might be working at present, but if there is water inside it, then over time it will rust the inside of the motor and then cause it to cease up.

When u checked to see if they were blocked did u pull the washer off and try operating it? Just a thought as I tried a needle down mine and it didn't work then I pulled the nozzle off and operated it to see if water came out.I then soaked it in warm water for 5 mins and blew through it.

    Exactly !

Suzy, you don't say what year the car is but if it's '04 -'07 then it's a very common problem. It can also cause the alarm to falsely trigger because the leaking gets into the boot lock and and corrodes the microswitch.

The only fix is to get the motor replaced with the latest version and think yourself lucky the washer pipe has not split elsewhere as it can in freezing weather with insufficient anti-freeze. I had a leak where the pipe is jointed inside the offside boot panel right over the comfort control module !

Believe me that is not funny !

It all happened to me 3 years ago and the only cure is a new motor !

    Ok for '04 - '07 read '04 - '08/09 !

Suzy, believe me, your rear wiper will eventually have a mind of its own and start working without warning. If you have washer fluid/water in the spare wheel well then a new motor is required.

Please take it back to the dealer and ask for a fix. If it is not under warranty then a VAG specialist will do it for you cheaper than Audi.

Had this on mine £80 from Audi Lincoln on Ebay for a complete rear motor, just had a friend at the garage swap it for a few pints.
