REAR Knocking sound!!! HELP

Ok 1st full day of owning my 57 plate 2008 shape 3 door 1.6sport i noticed when going over any bumps in the road or speed bumps the rear of the car would make a knocking sound someone said it could be the stone guards i havent a clue about cars i managed to get my head under the car i saw the 2 guards and they move up and down with very little force is this the problem? Thanks guys

I would have said a broken spring at the back

Most likely the stone guard, which are just plastic and clipped to the rear suspension arms. Check if they're loose, if they are just pull them off!

I'd say stone guards,I've had to take mine off

if the sound has some compression noise with it change the rear trailing arm bushes. That fixed mine.
