Hi all,

having just finished jazzing up my A3 to look like an S3, iv currently got 18" rotar arm RS3 rims on it, I'm temped to go up and inch, and stick some 19's on there, same rim just bigger, think it will fill the arches well and sit nice (hopefully) iv got a coilover kit to fit too so it'll sit just over the tyre, I don't want to drop it stupidly low.

question is, will they fit, I'm thinking they're 255/35/19s (tyre size)???

thanks

Plenty of threads on the search bar mate.

But IIRC 255 will be to wide.

That will be seriously close if it fits at all.

We fitted 245x18x9 tyres to mine with 18x9 rims and had a lot of trouble.

Ah ok, how do they fit 19" rims to the Rs3's then? Bar the wider from arches I have the same chassis, back end at least?

Most people dont go above a 225 tyre when using 19's mate. 235s can be used at a push depending on the offset of the wheels etc

Ok so I got totally confused, I'm actually looking at 235/35/19s 5x112 et45 RS3 wheels, I'm sure these will fit my Audi sportback (06)??

anything wider than 235 will definitely cause issues if lowering

I'm ordering me some 19s on Tuesday, 235 tyres will be the width, and hopefully there after should have no lowering issues'

"Hopefully" sounds awfully optimistic......have you had someone check out the offsets, lowering and so on?

im sure itll be fine, look at the rs3 with the same wheels and same chassis, look at N8 another forum member sticking 20's on! When I say lowering I mean by 30mm at most, I don't want to drop past the tyres, just want it to sit on top of them nice.

I hope so...the only reason I say it is thinking of getting mine sorted out with 245x18x9 tyres and rims, and not wanting you to have anything like the same problems.

i can imagine 245 tyres being too big, I had a set of 235s on my 18s a few weeks ago instead of 225s and looking a bit too big for the 18s and their setup they had clearance, im sure 19s will fit ok, like I said, looking at N8s he's floating on 20s and decked, although I do believe he may have rolled arches to sit his car on the deck!

N8's definitely the man for that sort of thing......we chose the wider rims for a lot more grip from stickier tyres!

you want 235's but you will need 225/35/19. which set are you buying? 19x8J or 19x8.5 J. also, you say ET 45. I was under the impression that the OEM RS3 wheels come as et50. are you buying reps?

RS3 wheels are 50 or 52et at 8 or 8.5 wide. Depends on how it's optioned from memory.
RS3s also have flared guards so can take a wider tyre/rim.

i have 225/35/19s on 19x8.5 43et reps. Stretch isn't as bad as it looks. Wouldnt want to go any wider really and I'm not that low.

im going 19" reps, they say that's what the tyre size for the rim, guess I could fit a stretch, will I incur any issues sitting a 225/35/19 tyre on something that should be a 235? Also they're 19X8.5 5X112 ET45 reps

JPK are yours the darker gun metal Grey reps??

Yes. Matte arms, polished outer. Concave. Very similar to RS5
