Hey guys,

This will be my first post! and maybe a potential owner of a modified S3 in a few days time!
The audi S3 i am planning to buy has full service history, and recently passed MOT.

However it is running stage 2+, Is this likely to break down on me?
He has had all the work done by Midlands VW (revo specialist) and has all the reciepts.
He has also said it has a upgraded clutch to handle the extra power along with a miltek exhaust system and uprated fuel pump.

Here is a link to the car: Used Audi S3 2.0 TSFI Ibis White 2007 360 BHP REVO S... for sale - PistonHeads (Ref 1121208)

Anyone know if he is a member on here?
Please, any feedback will be great!

I hope i gather enough information before i buy the car!

Many thanks
Will

Hey Will,

theres obviously always a risk in buying a modified car. You don't know how well the work has been done, and you can only presume that the car has been driven hard due to it being modified (who remaps a car and then just tootles around). Check all the receipts and I'd even ring the garage to see what they say about the car.

It sounds like they've done everything the right way, getting an uprated clutch etc. The link to the advert didn't work quite right unfortunately.

No matter when and where you buy a used car from, theres always a risk of gremlins going unnoticed.

thanks for the reply mate, really appreciate it,
I'm hoping he's willing to take the car to the tuner whilst I'm there so I can pay for a quick check,
hopefully the tuner will spot something that I won't be able to see.

thanks again I will be viewing and possibly buying this weekend !
i really hope its problem free

It all comes down to service history and how well it's been treated.

You need to see all of the bills and ensure every service item has been done.

Then really it's down to good luck if the car has been well treated as opposed to ragged senseless.

Just do all the checks you can. I'd try and ring the garage when you're on your own so you can get a (hopefully) unbiased view of the car from them. Also find out what make/type the clutch is so you can do your homework on how good it is/isn't.

Finally, something I've learnt over the years, if you've got any reservations make sure you're happy with it before you buy the car. I bought a mk4 Golf a couple of years back, noticed something small on the test drive but decided to buy anyway and it ended up costing a fortune.

Thanks for the reply, yes I will be checking all reciepts against the car, and the seller has offered me a 2 week guarentee after I paid for the car. That's how confident he is that the car is problem free.

So I will be buying the car this coming Saturday!
What documents should I make sure I get off him before leaving?
Hes keeping parts of the v5 and mot certificate because he needs it for number plate transfer.
I guess I got to make sure I tear off the new owner details part of the v5? This is what says the car is now mine? With his signature on it?

Thanks guys
will

Another Ibis White S3 to the fanclub. You're gonna enjoy your purchase especially being Stage 2+ so fingers crossed you've had your fair share of relatively fast cars as this is.

I can't see the ad now,but did he have the brakes and suspension uprated?

Dont forget about the road tax as well , that will have wrong number plate on it too.

Yeh he will be posting me the new tax disk and documents when they come back. But for time being i think I will be driving with his private plate.

not sure about breaks but I know the suspension is lowered 30mm all around, not sure if that's springs or coilovers either =\

I guess I will find out on Saturday morning =]
