Hello,

First of all very new to this so bear with me

Looking for a bit of advice from you lot, engine went bang doing about 40 been told from a mechanic at work its a real mess. The car is far to good to scrap, apart from a direct replacement is there anything a touch more intresting to put in it ? Funds are tight but will be doing most of the work myself but have around £2000 maybe a bit more depending

First thing to ask is why it went bang?
There are a few possibilities for replacements,but within your budget may be difficult.

Water pump seized up solid ripped all the teeth off the cambelt and the chain on the other side is snapped so not quite sure what caused what but its not pretty.

Very nasty...on the plus side,there are often decent engines on ebay from some of the breakers,and you may be able to find a good one there,if there's nothing salvageable from yours.

Yeah true story and im pretty sure it is the route that im going to have to take however was just curious to see what else could go in or had been put it previous.
