Hi I have a 2010 3 door s3 it's done 19k miles, after driving the engine bay smells a hit like hot cluth! :( the clutch isn't slipping at all but I have this smell! Is this bad and should it be looked into?
Thanks, Sam

I would do a little invest into where the smells is coming from......a burning clutch has definately got a distinct smell which cannot really be mistaken for anything else so I would be looking.

I have looked and that's all I can suspect. The only thing confusing me is that it doesn't slip! Can it smell without slipping?

It doesnt have to slip to smell. If your clutch has been dragging i.e holding it on the clutch with say pulling a trailer or whatever the clutch would smell but not slip. Lots of use as in city driving would do the same.

Your clutch could also be on the way out (internal failure of bearings or clutch plates not releasing properly)
Im not a clutch expert but have witnessed and smelt one without it slipping.

Hope this is of use to you. A clutch expert will probably be along soon to give you a better insight.

Ok thanks! :) just a thought but can a diff smell if it has a fault?
