Hey guys,

Bought a 2007 plate A3 2.0TDI S Line Quattro a few weeks back and it's been driving fine but i'm concious at the fact that it's done 80k that things are most likely going to start going wrong with it.
I'm going down the Nürburgring on the 31st of March and I don't think that's going to help matters. I plan on getting it chipped before I go but apart from that everything is standard and what I really want is some sort of warranty. I don't mind paying around £700 a year (which is what warrantydirect quoted) if it means that when things go wrong with it, they pay for it and not me.

I've read reviews about Warrantydirect and not heard good things and if I'm paying this sort of cash for the warranty I want to be absolutely sure that they will pay out when **** hits the fan and something goes wrong. Do you guys have any experiences with certain companies - which ones are the best?

Thanks for your help,

Nathan

I'll be able to let you know at some point.

im with WD and wear and tear exclusion has just expired so will bd able to claim when the next thing goes wrong.

I'd try haggling as well. My car is same age 2.0 sport and its nearly half what you quoted above for franchised dealer cover 25k miles per year!

I'm assuming mines more because i'm only 20, so doubt i'll be able to get it down by much!

Yeah please do, would be really interested!

Thanks

Shouldn't be any more because of your age mate, and I'm only 26.

Call and ask to speak to Chris Kirby, he is their "Audi specialist" haggle the price down as much as you can but don't accept. They'll call and write to you with a better offer, wait 2 weeks longer and you'll get another letter with a better offer again.

Then ring them and tell them you'll only take it if they give you 13 months instead of 13 and also reduce the wear and tear exclusion to 45 days.

Worked a treat for me. 13 month policy, delayed 3 month start, 45 day w&t exclusion and franchised dealer rate for £400.

Sounds good but not tried to claim yet lol.

Awesome mate thanks for the advice, I will definitely do that - I got 2 missed calls off them today but I was busy so couldn't take it.

My mum - she has an RS6 - she tried to claim for a new gearbox and they declined it, wouldn't budge so thats what's making me sceptical.

Had a phone call off them yesterday saying they would lower the quote to £525 and thats as low as they would go, said for them to ring me if they had a better offer and the guy was like "I've already knocked 25% off the price and can't go any lower because of the risk of car as it has the quattro system".

Still though, haven't taken it!

Warranty wise are better than Warranty Direct. They differ in the fact that they actually PAY OUT.

Is that from experience with both companies?

what problems did you have?

I've heard WD are good as long as you actually read the policy booklet and maintain in accordance with Audi service book.

My car came with 3mths WarrantyWise Platinum cover. They were fab sorting out a claim for a xenon light prob...

Good man! As per the above you'll get a letter through in the next couple of weeks with a lower offer again. Haggle the w&t exclusion down to 45 days, make it 13 months instead of 12. Add airbag and emissions cover if not already on quote.

Also ask for 3 month delayed start. They basically start the policy and if you don't claim in the first 3 months they will restart the policy, effectively giving you 16 months cover if not claimed.

My A3 isn't a Quattro do would expect it to be a bit more but would say £500 with all the above additions would be a good price.

Make sure you post your result as would be interested to know how you get on mate.

Okay here is the deal that I got:

13 months cover
airbag and emissions,
exclusion 90 days (couldnt get this down)
Non-franchised dealer

£500

Not the best but he didn't want to budge, but seeing as the original quote was £765.56 without the extra month and airbag + emissions.
