A3 Rear Mudflap Whats the part in the picture

I have got a set of mudflaps from Audi to fit to my A3 and was having a look at the contents & instructions when I seen a part which there is no reference to anywhere. I have taken some photo's can anyone explain what it is or where it goes, the fitting seems straight forward its just this part I dont know about.

The circular bit can be removed, the rectangular bit is for the u-clip.
 
Thanks for the reply, I can see where the rectangular bit gets folded so the clip can be tapped in but just couldn't figure where this round part went or what it was for.
