Hey,

Recently purchased a 2009 Facelift S3, and had a quick query regarding the clutch. I've noticed that for the first inch the clutch is pressed nothing actually happens, it doesn't affect the clutch whatsoever. It just feels like it's on a little bit of a spring, and then afterwrds you can feel a slight change in pressure as the clutch starts to engage..

Wanted to check this was normal? Almost feels like a safety feature to stop you riding the clutch if your foot hovers on the pedal.

Thanks:arco:

Same as on my A3, can't think of any concerns, as long as the clutch is fully disengaging when you press the pedal in?

Pretty sure that's normal as mine has a bit of play too before engaging. If you wanted to be sure you could nip down to a local dealer and test drive another manual S3 to compare.

Mine's also like this.

I always thought it was normal as the clutch itself is fine.
