S3 Remap in the West Midlands

I've been reading up on what company to go for and the main ones all seem to be highly regarded so I think i'm going to get the work done somewhere local to me so if I have issues I don't need to drive miles to get someone to look at it.

So really my question is can anyone recommend someone in the West Midlands.

I would like a before and after dyno run and also my plan is to get a stage 1 remap with no mods and then buy a CAI & TBE and go back for a stage 2 remap. So a tuner who doesn't charge a fortune to go stage 2 would be nice.

I've noticed APR do half price remaps when purchasing a Milltek but I can't see a local dealer.

    Thanks in advance

How about revo? if you look on there website there is a dealer map and there's loads on there, for instance there were two very close to me, 1 of them being about ten mins drive away, to add stage 2 it's £50

I'd take a look at r-tech, got mine (stage 1) done there. Just search on the forum and you'l find plenty of glowing reviews.

Revo is great brutal and you wont be disappointed, Shark, AMD and GIAC are good too.

I spoke to the Revo dealer and they said it was a nightmare to do, at first they said they didn't do stage 2 and really didn't seem to know anything about the car or product they were selling so there is no way I am going there.

I'll speak to R-Tech and see what they have to say

I'm amazed by that attitude, and can see why you wouldn't go there, but I would report that to Revo HQ,and get them to recommend someone,as that's clearly a case of someone not knowing what to do.
    .
I'm a long term Revo customer, and have never encountered that sort of behaviour before, and guys like Kev and Carl at revo have always been extremely helpful.

S3 Remap in the West Midlands

I can second that alex, the dealer I use is very enthusiastic, he has an s3 himself also so I suppose that helps, but if there's ever anything he's not 100% on he will give revo a call and check, with an attitude like mentioned above I'm suprised they get any business

They did say they would check with revo but overall just gave the impression they knew nothing about the product. Also saying they wouldn't do the stage 2 for £50 when stage 1 is £499 + vat is just not on.

I spoke to evolve and r-tech and they were both very helpful. I've used evolve before and they offered me a discount as I was a returning customer. They just don't do weekends. R-tech were really helpful, well priced and they are only an hour from me so I think I'll go with them

they said they wouldn't do stage 2 for 50? I'm sure it's fixed price from revo?

I had stage 1 a few weeks back and was charged 499 inc vat as it was 20% off, not sure if it still is, then had 2+ yesterday which was 100, again that's the price from revo not the supplying dealer

It's a real shame when a dealer undoes the hard work of a manufacturer in this way,and I can totally understand why you went with someone else, but I'd still pass the info on to Revo, and let them know what happened.
My tuner(AMDTuning),and Revo themselves have been very helpful and completely knowledgeable about their products and services, and the experience you've had is a total let-down.

I would also add MRC (link below) to your list of potential tuners - they can offer a full custom tune with RR before and after and have a lot of experience with these cars. Mine is stage 1 (with pre-cat removed) and produced 324ps. They offer discount for remaps to the next tuning stage too.MRC Tuning - Custom engine management for Audi, Seat, Skoda, Volkswagen

I thought the 499 was inc vat, that makes it even worse. They said because the ecu had to be removed for some reason it was too much hassle to do it twice and there is no way he'd do it for £50.

It doesn't change my view on the product, just confirms I'll never use that dealer. R-Tech seem to have good feedback so hopefully I'll have a good experience.

I haven't had my S3 mapped..........yet ;-) but Will at Performance Torque in Wombourne West Mids did my previous Cooper S and I can highly recommend him! He has a rolling road but its only a 2wd unit, he offers maps for all makes and models and knew all about the various stages of tune for the S3 when I spoke to him before I bought mine. Oh and he drives an R8 which is stunning!!

Hey oil . I posted a thread a few days ago about r-tech remap. I will not use any where else for remaps . The experience and service you receive from R-tech is second to none. I travel from Durham to r-tech lol over 3 hours just for a remap when I have a a lot of remapping firms closer . as said you will not be dissapointed.

2nd That, go to Will at P torque. He can also do you a custom exhaust or supply a milly.

S3 Remap in the West Midlands

I've never heard of anyone removing an ecu for a revo remap lol.... Why did they become a revo dealer if they don't agree with the pricing

Do please report back with your opinions after the stage 1, as I'm thinking to do the exact same thing: stage 1 on stock and then consider more later.

The Phirm in Hartley Whitney seem to be my closest Revo dealer and the reviews I've seen so far seem to rate them highly. I just need to get sufficient folding green together!

He never called me back but he did say he'd do it next week and lend me a car for the day so I can still get to work. I'm guessing as he only has a 2wd dyno I won't know the power output?

You probably don't have to, just glad I didn't take my car there as the other places I have spoken to have been more than helpful

I will do, Evolve, R-Tech and Performance Torque all said about 310 - 315 hp and 310 - 320 ft/ibs. If that is true then you can't moan at that for the price.

Then in July I need to find a mod friendly insurance company and about 2 grand to cover a new clutch and TB Milltek

The stock map is so dull in the high revs. If I hadn't drove round in a mapped car for 4 weeks I probably wouldn't mind so much lol

There is an old trick to get around this,in that you can take the fuse out for the Haldex to disengage it and run the car in FWD only.
    .
This isn't recommended,or ideal, but may be the way your guy will use.....ideally it should be set up on a 4WD rolling road, and also on the real road,to get the best results.
Every time mine gets a brain scan,it's done initially on the RR,and then taken for test drive and logged to make sure everything is working properly.

Pretty much all of the software companies offer very similar results from each of their products, and the only real differences come down to the way the power and torque is delivered, with some having a more aggressive setup, but the peak figures are all much the same.
    .
The stock setup means you use a lot more throttle to get around, and the extra torque from a remap often means the car is more economical after than before....on my run into work each day(which really isn't a speed run at all) mine will easily do over 30mpg,and sometimes up to 34mpg,which isnt bad considering.

I'll speak to him tomorrow and see what he says about the RR and so on. Would be nice to have a 4wd dyno run to go with the remap

With using it as a daily driver I guess the power delivery and smoothness at the bottom of the rpm range is just as important if not more important than the outright power. I'm hoping the mpg improves with the remap as well, i get about 23 - 24 mpg overall and 30 to work if I'm good all the way.
