Today I fitted a £35 'high-flow' pipercross panel filter instead of the paper filter. I have read mixed reviews with people saying they have felt gains and some people even noticed a loss!

From about 15 miles driving I have concluded... (Audi S3 8P3)

- No increase in induction nose
- Small but noticeable increase is turbo air whistle/sucking sound
- Slightly better throttle response in 3rd/4th when above 3000RPM
- Small but noticeable increase in torque, pulling more smoothly through 3000-6000

For £35 you can't really go wrong if you purchase one, especially if your old filter is dirty.

It may not be worth the ridiculous hassle to take the engine cover off/apart (took nearly an hour to fit)

Finally, I have seen some people put on a Carbon intake where the cold air feed is. I can't see this giving any benefit at all with the standard air box? Correct me if I am wrong.

So there you have my fantastic panel filter
review....

the reason for the carbonio is the sound
have you been in a car with 1 fitted ?

nope I haven't, but it just replaces the plastic intake so I dont understand how there would be a difference? If it gave a sound increase with standard air box I would buy one!

it doesnt it replaces the box

thats the airbox in your pic
not just a feed pipe

are there any advantages to having an induction kit over a panel filter on a TDi??

no there is no extra gains over standard paper filter

I think that applies to pretty much all of the panel filters.

The real gains come from a proper CAI on a mapped car.

does that apply to a turbo diesel car?
my tdi is mapped but has a ITG panel filter. would i notice a difference with a carbon induction kit such as the BMC CDA?

as above only the noise and looks
