Ok not wanting to thread hijack previous Revo CAI thread :http://www.audi-sport.net/vb/a3-s3-sportback-8p-chassis/175745-revo-air-intake-fitted-2.html

Thought id continue here:

This is re the new CAI being developed by AMD/AS

Auto Specialists - AS Performance 2.0 TFSi Induction Kit - With or Without cold feed scoop

Ive just got off the phone to a very helpful chap at AS who says they're still working on the Cold feed scoop due to the fact it was primarily developed on a Golf but the scoop as it stands needs modifying slight to fit the S3. I guess that could be Alex's they are working on at AMD today to get it right?

Was discussing gains of 20bhp with this pipe. Of course some official figures supplied would be nice.

350 sheets all in, potential discount on group buy anyone?

Afternoon All,

Just put a news story up about the kit.

New AmD Tuning 2.0 TFSi Induction kit!

We were planning on having some official figures up today but we have been absolutley flat out with work. Fingers crossed we shall have one on the dyno with a back to back test against the standard setup tomorrow. From the pre-production kit and performance on the road we know it is better but we will put some official figures on it.

Due to a slight difference in the front panel between the Golf and the S3 we do need to make a small adjustment to the heat shield.

We have already fitted them to two S3's today, as we can make the adjustment here but they will be adjusted for general sale within the next batch.

We have already sold all the kits from the first batch!

Here are some pictures, please excuse the quality as none of us have our DSLR's with us today but will have tomorrow, for some better photos.

I don't think any of those cars are mine...LOL....they're too clean!

I know this is a stupid question but with the heat shield would it fit a ITG CAI? I know the answer is probably no but worth a ask as I want a neat heat shield haha

Yours is still up in the air, we have 4 S3's here all having one!

I have an S3 here with that kit fitted. We shall give it a go and let you know!

Hi Ben...I know!...it's wierd seeing that many all at one time.

Well if no figures are up tomorrow im going with the REVO, cant wait forever!

Can't post up any figures from mine right now as it's in bits.

**** me my arms are aching maybe they can knock up some carbon fibre drumsticks whilst im waiting.

Alex was thinkin this morning over my scrambled eggs, as you do, why have you swapped in a perfectly good ITG CAI for the AMD/AS one? Aesthetics or perhaps power curve i guess, as i can't believe there will be much a of a Rizzla skin between them in outright performance?

Sorry chaps, we were just flat out yesterday and getting customers cars done had to take priority as I am sure you can understand.

Looking alot more promising for today.

Curiosity!

Hopefully it won't kill the cat,but there are a few points that interest me,the first being the overall maximum diameter, and more importantly, the narrowest section is where the MAF is,and the silicon pipework to that section has a very smooth and gentle reduction in diameter.

From what I know of gas flow physics(which is limited and specific to what I do only),this should improve flow characteristics in this region.

So...we'll see.

This is the main reason I'm changing my VWR which could not maintain good fuel trim figures due to rubbish MAF section. Only worried about too much noise but hopefully it wont be that bad.

I've not had problems with the original ITG in that respect, but the overall setup of my car is very different to yours, and even the software will be different.

Just seen one fitted from the first production run.

First impressions were of a really well thought out system and from the diameter side certainly the biggest and best thought out I've seen.

The reduction for the MAF is smooth and carefully done so it should preserve as much laminar flow as possible when compared to the sharp steps of some other systems.

No pics from me yet as mine will be fitted shortly.

yeah that reduction seems to me to be the best improvement over other intakes.

The shield under the intake is also well sorted and funnels airflow from the old intake slot at the front grill(where the OEM intake was) to the filter.

Anyway....have to wait until I see how it goes on mine.

I have a few things being sorted out right now.

get them to see if the heat shield fits a itg system i need one :p

Ben will be checking next week, once we get the next lot of stock in and I'll have some figures for you this afternoon.

Righto, test was carried out on a 2.0 TFSi S3 running a full performance exhaust system with a standard air box and then our intake added (standard software)...

...peak gains were 15bhp and 16 lbft of torque, with a good consistent increase throughout the mid range too! Spot on for an intake I would say!

Just converting the graph to an internet friendly format and I shall post it up on here.

Here you go. Standard software plus Milltek down pipe with sports cat. Only changes were to the intake system. Car also stayed strapped on the dyno, to have the AmD/AS intake fitted.

AmD-ASintakegraph.jpg

We will also test is on a mapped car between stock intake and our intake too.

Great work thanks Ben! Now when are they available with the heatshield, or can i order onem dispatch the CAI, then send along the heat shield once it's ready?

They should be ready for the end of next week with the modification on the heatshield for the S3. I take it yours is a face lift model? Best to get your order in early especially if you would like a lairy colour!

Looking forwards to seeing what you get on some mapped cars......and what it does for mine.

Alex any reason why you went for the AMD/AS Intake over the Revo CAI ? How about the reduction area for the MAF on the REVO CAI looks good too?

Wow really nice contrast and quality, I ordered mine in red against white should look great too or maybe try different colour like yellow?

I really do like that colour, the old codger in me says Stealth black, the young lad says them above looks awesome! Thanks for a the pics Ben.

Well apparently AMD have some more available tomorrow onwards, fingers crossed. I want it NOW! I still think im going Orange..

You'll maybe get some figures from mine shortly depending on AMDs time constraints.

Only issue with dyno numbers on mine is that the Haldex doesn't like dynos at that sort of power level so we always have problems gauging maximum power as it pulls timing and boost on the dyno.
