    S3 8PA - stage 2 - mods questions

    Hi Guys,
I'm planning to run Stage 2 on my S3 8PA sportback. From my local tunner i was told to get around 350-370BHP (depenging on engine performance) but i need following things to do:
    a) new air system: Cold Air Induction or... Audi TTS air induction
    b) complete exhaust system
    c) CPU remap
as my engine is CDLA i dont need autotech fuel injection system and mine is sufficent for 370BHP
My car is running currently 280BHP on 98octan fuel bone stock, no single modification done.
All is fine besides Audi TTS air induction which requires to move out the battery from front to trunk. Here comes my question: is there any other CAI i could use instead of AUdi TTS? I dont want to use FORGE CAI, as its expensive and hard in maintenance.
I'd highly appreciate your suggestions !!

Also i'm wondering if anyone has checked fuel consuption before / after Stage 2? Big di

    thanks & cheers
    mario

PS: Any other mods should i consider while getting stage 2?

You won't get that sort of gains and you will defiantly need to upgrade fuel pump ,full exhaust decent cai but upgrade brakes first. Safety first. I've done all of these and more and got 367 bhp.

well i would not stick to numbers and say that 370 my tunner claims is real 370, as each dyno produces different numbers and your 340-360 might be 370-380bhp on dyno here.

I have an issue with CAI as our roads are quite dirty with sand / small tiny rocks that can easily damage turbo and gets dirty very fast. I was told to go with audi TTS air intake, but it requires removing battery to trunk. If you don't know any other CAI / intake system don't do not require removing battery i guess i will go with TTS one.

Why do i need new fuel pump? mine is 2009 model which has better efficiency than previous 04-08 - at least that's what i was told by two tunners i talked to here locally.

My brakes doing well, but will replace them for Brembo once they get torn off. Discs + pads are enough or you suggest to get new calippers as well?

    many thanks for help

You should definitely have the brakes and suspension done,as otherwise you get something which is pretty good in a straight line, and very wobbly around bends.
    .
For anything in the 360-380bhp range(and 380bhp from the stock turbo is unlikely)you would need the HPFP upgrade for sure, and the new AMDTuning CAI,the ITG/VWracing filter, and the Neuspeed will all fit without moving the battery.

The tuners you are speaking to are mistaking your TFSI engine for the 2.0TSI engine used in the newer 2.0T (and Golf GTI).
The new 2.0TSI engines do not need the HPFP upgrade but the motor in the S3 still uses the old TFSI engine which requires the HPFP.

I'd be double checking what your tuners say in the future as this is a pretty simple mistake which does not give them much credibility.

Also, I would not be bothering with a TTS CAI and relocating your battery.
Plenty of sealed units on the market which offer much better performance than a stock TTS unit.

    Hi Guys,

Thank you so much for your advices. My thoughts to go with TTS air induction was to secure turbo from derbies / small rocks / dirt that can get through the CAI – from what I heard? Do you know any workarounds / solutions to prevent turbo damage when installing CAI??

HPFP is there just Autotech or any other you can recommend also?
Sorry for lack of knowledge, but I don’t know what is “DV” and what is used for?

I’ll google for Revo induction kit and check what it is.

    Thanks for help!
    cheers

I wouldnt worry about the turbo mate. Camfollower failure on Autotech pumps is much more common if not enough care is put in checking it every 5k/10k miles. Dont know how many turbos are gone bust but I havent heard of anyone yet on this forum.

Do you check the follower only when stage 2 or is it worth checking anyway just gone stage 1 with 35000 miles when would it be worth checking 40000??

Any other HPFP than Autotech can you recommend for me? I'm not going further than stage 2 and i will stop on around 350BHP.

    thanks!

Id like to jump in here, see some people mention the standard S3 Exhaust system is ok for 2/2+? And the downpipe is the restriction? Im looking at 2+ and of course fear the standard clutch. Wanted to spend it on clutch over exhaust/downpipe short term. Any figures approximations on using standard over modified for 2+?

LOBA does some great HPFP that dont fail very often actually none of them has yet from what I recall which is a good news and personally i would go ahead with it but costs around 700 mark and still camfollower check ups every 10k just for peace of mind would be required.

IF you stage 2 only you could have got it checked every service really or every 15k. Sorry for multiposting....

Other than the Autotech(which is a pumps internals upgrade) you have the APR and Loba pumps.
    .
It should be said that with proper attention to cam follower maintenance,ALL of these pumps are reliable, and the Autotech will flow sufficient fuel for well over 500bhp.
