Wipers, horn and indicators not working

My uncle bought an A3 2005 2.0tdi off a friend and the wipers (front and rear) indicators and horn do not work. He said the fuses all look ok

any idea what the problem is?

For info - before he bought it, the car had been sitting on the guys drive for a few months so it had got a bit damp inside - not sure if this would be related to the issue

Fuses look ok, could be worth changing to rule it out

Just had another chat with him he said basically nothing that is switched on with the stalk works so he is thinking it could be a relay?

indicators and wipers are seperate relays are they not?

wipers are variable ie it goes tick/click at various intervals depending on stalk control, indicators go 'tick tock'

2 relays, and therefore 2 stalks out of sync.....nah

Something else is going on there me thinks

Maybe Earth Connection at fault.

Sounds like the steering control module may have a fault & as said needs to be scanned with VCDS to find out. Very much doubt it'll be down to fuses or relays

He has taken off what he thinks is the problem, he said its looks like an ECU which was under the steering wheel, is this the steering control module?

If so how much are these and where can he get one?

Thats the steering control module...

He will need the same part number as the current module, check eBay etc, just replace it BUT then...

It will need to be coded... The basic settings for the steering need to be reset & any fault codes removed...

this needs to be done with VCDS... Have a look at the VCDS User Map to find someone close to offer help

Whats the part number as I may have 1 in stock, also whereabouts is he located as it will need coding, aswell as the steering calibrated & various other calibrations.

He has bought a second hand module which has fixed the wipers and the horn but now when he puts the indicators on the main beam comes on and then after a few seconds the indicators each side will flash once in turn. seems strange do u think it may be faulty? or will it just need a reset
