Simple question - which brake fluid should I use for my standard 2005 A3 8P 2.0l TDi?

I presume 1 litre of Dot 5.1 would be ok?

Thanks everyone

from what i understand if your car is designed to have dot 4.1 then that is what should be used. thay cant be mixed

dot 5.1 is more for race use,and has a higher boiling point also you may need to replace your brake hoses under the arches to steel bradied becouse the standard ones would swell becouse dot 5.1 has less give, therefore expanding the week point when the brake is pressed.

thats what i understand. someone else m

Thanks for all the replies! Fairly conclusive - I shall get some dot 4 instead. Thanks again everyone.

Rather than starting my own thread. It's time for a fluid flush and change on my A3. For 'fast road' use, just use genuine VAG dot 4 fluid? Have stainless lines and new rotors and pads going on at the same time but I've read that ABS/ESP units dont particularly like race fluids like Motul RBF660 etc? OEM holds up well in most circumstances?

is Motul RBF660 okay to use ? i just order 1.5ltrs :(
